September was such a fun month. It included travel, redecorating my new office, photographing a wedding, and finding a new favorite coffee shop. In September I explored. I entertained the lesson of intentional flow and I realized the power to shift and switch patterns when I needed.
I have been so intrigued with my self-awareness lately- gah, it’s a bit mad! In fact, when I prepared to go home, I had to set my mindset to be open because even though my adoptive mom and I have grown in our relationship- I couldn’t assume all would be well. It helped tremendously setting up my mindset to look for happy and exciting moments because that’s what I experienced.
During my visit home. I was able to celebrate my grandmother’s birthday at Crafty Crab (the Crafty Cajun and Buttery Garlic mix was phenomenal), have an amazing breakfast with my sisters, and laugh a lot.
Even though my back hurt from sleeping on the couch, I think I have finally found my space limit with being back in my hometown and experiencing enjoyment. I noticed that every moment at home doesn’t have to be a tough conversation, boundaries can be respected and family has the ability to grow when they are open and time is given.
September definitely had somewhere to go, but it did leave some lessons behind which included the following:
- Home limits are important when rebuilding relationships. Sometimes you can’t stay home for 7 days but only 3.
- Your adoption experience isn’t all of you but it can and most likely will affect how you view home and personal connections. Being aware of that prepares you for other actions and interactions.
- Your immediate family can surprise you when you least expect it – and yes in a good way.
- Love is beautiful and I need to be invited to more weddings.
I am excited to see what October has in store.
What did September teach you? Let me know in the comments.
From a coffee shop with love,
-Teish
