I’ve been tired lately… lol. And it’s not funny, but this month I paused and thought, hmm, what is actually making me this tired? So I made a few changes.
Now granted, it’s been a little stressful at work. But I try not to let stress overwhelm me because it absolutely can. And at this point I’m like, hello… we’ve been through this before, we’re not doing that again.
So I did a quick overhaul of a few areas in my life that were starting to feel draining. I had to ask myself an honest question: are these things really draining, or do I just need to change something around?
And y’all… I needed to change some things around.
First, I sat down with myself and had a little “shush conversation” and said: finances first, nutrition next.
I’m a corporate girlie, and that 9–5 can get you moving fast. I knew I wanted to automate my savings, so I went over last month’s expenses to see where my money was actually going and where I could reduce spending.
You would think I would have mastered this growing up. I definitely had the lessons… but sometimes having the lesson and implementing the lesson are two different things. So now I’m implementing.
After budgeting for March, I felt really good about what I could add to my savings and the small sacrifices I need to make in the interim. With time it gets better, so I’m looking forward to the end of the month just to see my consistency.
Next up: nurtrition.
March started Lent, and I knew I wanted to give up something that would challenge me and also help me get closer to God. (p.s. people are always surprised when I say I’m Catholic, like I know there are other Black Catholics)
So y’all… I gave up bread.
And I’m not talking about just sandwich bread. I mean waffles, pastries, cookies… the sweet treats too. Because listen, I do enjoy a little sweet moment.
But it’s been three weeks, and I’m really proud to say I’m doing well. I’ve noticed my tiredness has dropped, and my skin is getting clearer. That alone has made me really happy.

It’s March, y’all, and I’m excited to see what consistency does over time.
What changes are you making this month?
From my writing corner,
Teish
