I didn’t realize how much I needed this two-week rest until I took it. Believe me when I say that rest is essential—not just for the body, but for the mind as well. I had all these plans to do this and that, but instead, I found myself diving into my Bible, listening to sermons, and simply sleeping. I embraced stillness, and in doing so, here are a few thoughts I came to terms with:
- I love taking extra time in the morning to do my skincare routine and watch YouTube videos.
- My prime time for creativity is between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., especially with a nice cup of tea.
- I spend a lot of time in my head, but I like myself and the way I think.
- Apples are in season, and they make for a pretty good snack.
- Naps are essential.
- My hot water was off for two days, and cold showers were surprisingly refreshing.
- People are quick to tell you how you should feel instead of understanding how you do feel.
- My faith is growing, and I’m learning to trust God more.
- Spinach and water together? Not great. Adding fruit definitely helps.
- I want to decorate my home—should I record it?
- I’m meant for greater things, but I’m grateful for where I am now.
Rest feels like a breath of fresh air. What I wouldn’t give for more time to simply think and rest. Some things in my life don’t make sense right now, but I’m breathing, and I prayed for days like this where I could breathe easy.
When’s the last time you rested? When’s the last time you felt like you could? Y’all, this break has been transformative.

From my room with love,
Teish
