Finding joy again.

You gotta enjoy life a little bit more.

When I was young, I used to walk around parks and look at different leaves and different pebbles. I’d look for rocks and bring them home because there was just something about them, like, oh my gosh these are so cool. I was seeing the world with a child’s eyes, and experiencing that was so wonderful. At some point, I forgot how to see the world in its beauty. But with life and growth and being an adult, the way you see the world quickly dissipates- so it should be normal right?

No, it shouldn’t be. So let me say it again- you gotta enjoy life a little bit more.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’ve been really trying to get back to writing consistently, because that’s where I feel free, where I feel understood, and where I know I’ll always find myself.

I was walking earlier today and looking at the sun, because why is the sun setting at 4:30 in Massachusetts? And I was just like, yo, you gotta get back to loving you. You gotta get back to your life, because you don’t want to take life for granted. And lately, I feel like I’ve been taking life for granted.

If you know a little bit about me, you know what this month is for me. This is a whole month to celebrate who we are as adoptees, why we exist, why we’re important, and why we matter. So I just hope you take the time to realize how special you are, how great you are, and how loved you are. Appreciate the little things. I feel like I’m writing a love letter to myself but I am supposed to tell you to stop rushing all the time.

You’re stressed, I know. If you’re on the East Coast like me, the time change has hit and you might be wondering, “OK, how am I gonna get through this?” Let me tell you:

Find one thing in your evening that makes you happy. Could be sitting with lofi beats in the background, reading a book from the library, silence or even calling someone. Don’t you have that snack in the refrigerator you forgot about?

Yeah – this National Adoptee Awareness Month – I want you to be aware of your joy and all the beauty that is around you.

Do we have an agreement?

I’ll see you in my next post.

From my writing corner with love,

Teish

By the way, I have some events coming up, see below:
